Corn, mindsets and higher yields
FARGO, N.D. - Steve and Scott O'Neill don't promise area corn farmers quick or easy answers. But producers who "push the boundaries of production and challenge their mindsets" will be rewarded with much-higher yields than their less-flexible neighbors, Steve O'Neill said.

China buys US corn
Cattle and grain markets ended last week near the highs for the week. Perhaps some traders thought the grains would see weakness ahead of a three-day weekend, but the story was different.

USDA Gearing Up to Conduct 2012 Census of Agriculture Surveys are now arriving in mailboxes around the nation to help identify all active farms in the United States. The National Agricultural Classification Survey (NACS), which asks landowners whether or not they are farming and for basic farm information, is one of the most important early steps used to determine who should receive a 2012 Census of Agriculture report form. The Census of Agriculture, conducted every five years by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS), is a complete count of U.S. farms and ranches and the people who operate them.

Welcome to Baumstark Braaten Law Partners
Baumstark Braaten Law Partners, formerly known as Sarah Vogel Law Partners, was established January 1, 2005 by Sarah Vogel and Beth Angus Baumstark. We are a boutique law firm, focusing our practice in areas where we have significant experience and expertise. The attorneys at our firm work for farmers and ranchers in the Dakotas and beyond. Sarah Vogel is the former two-term Agricultural Commissioner for North Dakota. Beth Baumstark and Sarah Vogel have been working together for years, advocating and fighting for farmers, ranchers and other individuals.
Though we focus our practice on legal services for farmers and ranchers, we also have significant experience with American Indian law and environmental law, land use issues, and small business matters. We are admitted in the tribal courts of North Dakota, and have represented both tribal councils and tribal members. Additionally, because so many of our clients have been impacted by energy development, we have expanded our practice to include helping landowners with legal issues related to wind, coal and oil development.
Our practice has been referred to as "good guy law," and we strive everyday to ensure that every citizen has access to the legal system.
